What is the Municipal Assembly of Setúbal?

The Municipal Assembly of Setúbal is the deliberative body of the municipality and represents all residents of the district. It is responsible for approving the municipality's major strategic decisions, overseeing the actions of the Municipal Council, and ensuring that local policies serve the interests of the population.

It consists of municipal deputies elected directly by citizens and the presidents of the parish councils within the municipality, bringing together representatives from various political forces 

​

It typically meets four times a year during ordinary sessions, and can convene extraordinary meetings whenever necessary. All sessions are public, allowing any citizen to attend debates and interventions .

  • Approve the municipality’s budget and activity plans

  • Deliberate on municipal regulations

  • Oversee the actions of the Municipal Council

  • Review and vote on motions, recommendations, and political statements

  • Promote transparency and citizen participation

How to Attend the Sessions

​

The sessions of the Municipal Assembly of Setúbal are public, and any citizen can attend either in person or online.

Attend in the Assembly Hall at Setúbal City Hall (Paços do Concelho), located in the city centre. Admission is free.
